So on Sunday, we had drinks with friends on their deck.
When we got home, I was violently ill, and I thought, "Man, I have become a lightweight. TWO glasses of wine make me sick?
d_aulnoy, sometimes I think I don't even know who you are anymore."
And then it happened again.
And again.
And again.
Seriously, folks, white rice doesn't even love me anymore.
Monday, I reorganized all of our bookcases. Then I spent the evening shivering and shaking (and discovering that white rice was no longer my BFF). Yesterday, I sat up, gagged, canceled classes, and spent the day fighting to marry half of an Egyptian revival peacock glass belt buckle to a Deco paste bracelet. Victory was finally mine, but, damn, was it a long day of being shakey-handed. Today, I feel more-or-less like myself again, but a kind friend bringing me soup didn't hurt ... and I finally felt well enough to get to my bench again. I linked to my jewelry-blog post about pearl mesh, yeah? Well, though one of the pieces fell through (pro-tip, when the watch guy assures you they're real because he did the tooth test ... don't trust him unless he's backed up by a trusted jeweler (he wasn't)), the other one arrived today and is even prettier than I'd hoped, a gorgeous Edwardian collar with a sapphire center and a hook for interchangeable pendants. Figured I'd make a sapphire one in the design I've been experimenting with: mission accomplished!
Now, to go forth and do some class planning ....
P.S. - Quick shot of the happily married bracelet ....
