The second time in just a few days that I encountered the phrase, "ten billion gallons"; in this case, it refers to the amount of water released by the Mendenhall Glacier, (outside of Juneau, Alaska), in a three-day span: Alaska Looks for Answers in Glacier’s Summer Flood Surges (NY Times).
