omg! i passed my arct piano exam!
i haven't posted anything about it because i was really, really scared. i did mess up during my exam. not horribly, but it wasn't a small mistake (actually, i heard that what happened to me happens in a lot of exams but i never experienced it before in an exam). plus, the middle finger on my right hand went almost numb. it just kept getting spasms and there were times when i couldn't control it at all. of course, that means i messed up on a few of the million trills, sixteenth notes, etc. that i had to play. otherwise though, i did think i played well, as in emotionally and in my interpretation of the music.
i'm not saying that i got a good mark. i just passed (passing mark is 70) but after what happened, i'm just happy that i didn't fail.
i actually haven't practised the piano since the exam. seriously, looking at the piano made my insides turn and i would start fretting/obsessing over my messed up exam. and i was resting my right hand. my pre-exam practising was pretty intense (which is why my finger was out of control during the exam) and i needed some time off from the piano.
now that i feel much better about my exam, i should try out some of the pieces i've been meaning to play, including:
- the entire moonlight sonata by beethoven
- pathetique sonata by beethoven
- prelude in g minor by rachmaninoff
- sonata in a major (the one with ronda alla turca) by mozart
- a partita by bach
if you have a piece to recommend, comment please!
