Post-graduation checklist item: Become Employed (preferably at a job that I'll enjoy going to each day)
Status: COMPLETED!

I got the call today from Caitlin (the woman with whom I had the two-hour campus interview last week) and she said she would very much like to have me as part of their team. The conversation was a little longer than that, but the general gist of the message was "If you're ready, we're ready to have you on board!"

Tomorrow I'm going out to do some paperwork for HR and re-greet the staff as the newest employee. I'll be meeting up with uninvited1023 afterward since she'll be in Oakdale as well doing some filing work. We will have our time-honored traditional milkshakes (or in this case, Wendys Frosties)! Saturday I'll hopefully do most of the moving in, and Monday will be work day #1. I think it's a little ironic that Labor Day is my first day to start the job, but I'm really not complaining. I was really excited about this job when I interviewed last week and am so glad I made the right impression!

If anyone was curious, my official title is going to be a Residence Life Coordinator for the Cultural Care Au Pair - Training School.

This exciting position in Oakdale, NY would allow you to live on the St. John's University campus at our Au Pair Training School. At the school, you will be working alongside the Director and Assistant Director on tasks such as welcoming au pairs to the school, pulling arrival and departure reports from our database, going on the New York City tour, being available to assist the teaching staff, and speaking with au pairs individually and in large groups.

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm to work long hours- this is not a 9am - 5pm job, an independent nature, outgoing and flexible attitude, problem solving skills, and patience to work with au pairs that have various language skills. To be successful you will also demonstrate proficient Microsoft Office skills and be comfortable communicating via email and phone with all our overseas offices, foreign language skills a plus. Boundless energy and enthusiasm, a positive and flexible attitude and excellent communication skills are a must! This position requires on campus living. Starting salary is upper 20s, but also includes housing and partial meal plan and great benefits.
