Stupid Virus
So, my computer got infected for the 4th time in the last two weeks or so. This time, I wasn't able to get Malwarebytes up at all, no matter what I did, so I ended up having to go to the library's computer help desk. I was there for about an hour with between 1 and 3 people working on it at the same time.
They said that they'd see a few people come in with this same problem in the past week and that it was a nasty one. They opened my computer in safe mode to try and get software on it so they could find the virus in the first place, but the virus decided that it was still going to run in safe mode.
It took restarting my computer about 10 times, ,multiple attempts to open any programs at all let alone the ones we needed, using this hijack program to manually delete multiple files that they knew were viruses, reinstalling and running Malwarebytes in safe mode, deleting the 2 viruses it found, restarting my computer in safe mode with networking to get updates for Malwarebytes, running it again and deleting the 4 files it found this time, and restarting my computer again in normal mode before it was back to normal...
It was ridiculous and not exactly how I had planned to spend the afternoon, but at least it's back up and running properly.
