Huge Freak Out
I'm kind of freaking out right now since my friend, "Mr. Computer Virus" came back again last night. And this is the same one I kept having issues with a few weeks ago. I couldn't open Malwarebytes again, but was finally able to figure it out and get the infected files off my computer. Then, it came back again earlier today. I was able to get the files deleted quicker the second time, but it's still frustrating and not something I want to be dealing with when I have my first finals in two days. All in all, in the course if the last 48 hours, I had to delete over 50 infected files.
Now, I'm freaking out because this time, my computer got really messed up. The one desktop icon I had doesn't show up anymore; the only programs that I have pinned to the task bar at the bottom of the screen that show up the way they're supposed to are firefox and word (the others just look like blank pieces of paper with the corner turned down); I'm only able to access 4 word files and that's only because they were pinned to the list that shows up when you right click the icon; and when I search my computer, none of my files show up. None of them. This last bout of computer virus may have lost me everything from the last few months. And I do mean everything, word documents that I'm supposed to be using to help study for my finals and one that I'm supposed to use during my final and all the pictures I've pretty much taken in the last year or so. That means all my Mexico pictures, all my Costa Rica pictures, and every thing else.
I kept telling myself to back everything up after the last time my computer kept getting infected, but it kept getting pushed out of my mind because of homework and other things. So I haven't backed anything up recently, and in all honesty, I can't even remember the last time I did it. If my dad or the people at school can't help me get this fixed and get everything back, I'll be kicking myself for a very long time.
This is all really hard to deal with. My finals start on Monday, I have to work for a few hours tomorrow, and I have to study for both those tests. I don't have time to be mucking around with my computer for very long. I'm kind of debating sending out an email or calling in to work tomorrow if things don't get fixed fast, but at the same time I fell kind of bad doing that since a lot of people have been trying to get others to cover their shifts for them because of finals and review session and everything. Plus, I've already called out a few times this year because of vacations or being sick and tomorrow is supposed to be my last day until the fall. And it would also be short notice...But if I can't get my computer sorted out very quickly, going to work on top of getting my computer fixed leaves me with very little time to study...
