I haven't updated in awhile. This one will be long. I'm using page cuts so you don't get stuck with it on your friends page if you don't want to read it.
Just some things I've thought about.
What do you think of when you hear the word Freedom?
I think most people think of freedom as being able to do what you want when you want it. Perhaps just reacting, going with your impulses and simply following your feeling.
This strikes me as another kind of slavery. If you're letting your feelings take over then you have lost your freedom to think and to reason about the situation. To contemplate. To rationalize. These are not chores or bonds. They are tools, skills, aides. Life is better when you're thinking in my opinion.
Only when you have time to think about every aspect of something are you truly being free.
Capitalizing something - not counting at the beginning of a sentence - is usually to show the importance of the word. Often it is used to represent a higher meaning of the word. For example you can have "a good" or "the Good" which would be like a greater good, overall good. You can have "happiness" meaning something has made you feel happy, or there's "Happiness" which would be used to talk about ultimate happiness which is being fortunate, prosperous and having an overall well being, this would not include pleasure, honour or wealth.
I don't believe that these greater or ideal concepts exist. The idea that there's this greater happiness that we should all strive for, or the idea that there's this greater good that we should all work towards seems ridiculous to me. Everyone has different ideas of happiness and what is good and who is to decide whats right? How do you know when you've achieved it? If someone were to tell you they had achieved true happiness what proof would they have? How would they know they can't become any happier if they've stopped trying?
"Misery loves company" Is false.
When somebody is miserable what they want to do is talk about their problems. They want to be around people but being around other miserable people would not work because they'd all want to talk about their own problems. They would not be wanting to help each other, they wouldn't care about another person's problems they'd only be waiting for their turn to speak. Miserable people spend time with other miserable people because no one else will put up with them.
I'd appreciate any coments. I like to argue though, be warned.
