Latinamericanist
The world's top 100 universities listed
and none of them are Latin American. The UK's Guardian posted this list, and interestingly enough there are zero Latin American countries in sight. Although many of the Asian countries have climbed the charts to join the universities of the United States and United Kingdom, once again Latin America falls short on the successful ladder. What's going on Latinamerica? Is this another example of dependency theory, how Latin America is behind technologically and economically because of the constraints held by super powers back in colonial times? I don't understand why the entire continent continues to not reach up to the global standards of achievement, or perhaps Latin America is overlooked completely. Thankfully the next Summer Olympics will attract at least some kind of attention in 2016.
