A New Year fic / Scraps of ideas - part 2

Dec 31, 2006 12:27

Thought I forgot about my scraps? Oh no, I didn’t, I just didn’t have time for it lately. Sharing this particular story has been on my mind for quite a while, and since it’s New Year’s Eve, let’s make it my little New Year gift for whoever comes here. ;-)

For those who missed it or forgot, and are curious what I mean by scraps, here is the info: Read more... )

First off, I read your fic finally. ;-) You know, I don't think it's such an AU as I previously thought. In the beginning it is more, as I rather don't think in the canon universe former pets had kids that grew up in Ceres, but later on, as you started to write about the elites and the way they retired (which is very similar to my theory and I think in the canon it should be just like this) I though it is actually very close to canon. As you know, I don't mind incompatibility with the canon if it makes sense and if the story is good. And yours is so far. It's this kind of good writing I saw in 'The Flaw' and 'Coincidence' (minus language problems ;-).
Plus now I think I know what you meant by our thoughts going along the same line. ;-) There are similarities in your story and mine. And the fact that we thought about sharing them at the same time... the truth is I was getting ready to write down this summary for a few weeks, I already started, but couldn't finish. You, sending me your fic, gave me the push to finally finish and put it here. So it's not such a coincidence, still, a coincidence it is.
There's just one thing I didn't get in your fic, but I'll ask you about it in the e-mail.
I really hope I now gave you some push to sit down and maybe try to continue. I'd love to see the rest of the story. If I like it as much as I do now, I would like to put it on my site (if you agree, that is ;-). But as it is, I'd rather wait for you to finish it or at least start writing it again, since - as you said - you don't write scene by scene.
As for me writing scene by scene - actually it's a kind of necessity, not preference. I started doing it when I decided to publish 'On Hire' in the course of writing it, not after I have completed the fic (I couldn't wait ;-). But I very often write scenes ahead, when they are in my head. I think - once they pop up by themselves, they are the best, so I just seize the moment and catch them on paper/computer. It's also saving time - writing down what just popped up, not thinking it up all by myself is usually faster... but why am I telling you this, you probably know it all the same. ;-P

Thanks so much for reading! I read your mail and decided to answer your question with some additional material which you might like

There's one thing that kind of bothered me about the canon, it's those so-called business people, for instance the guy who runs the Guardian etc, they are non-elite and yet in those positions where elites are enlisted to run the organisation. What do you think of this matter...?
