I Dreamed a Dream

I found this opinion on a newsfeed I read and participate in:
.
If anything, Barack Obama should've united the party a long time ago by not running at all. The inexperienced empty-suited hack should've waited 8 years to run for the White House while garnering some REAL experience. Instead, his ego told him to run NOW. Hillary would've been the nominee on February 5th and would have been running against any presumptive Republican nominee long ago.

If Hillary Clinton does not get the nomination, Barack Obama would be wise to choose her as VP. Otherwise, a LARGE segment of the Democratic voter population will vote for the moderate John McCain.
.
Another response (keep in mind this is a news site that tailors to stories that would interest the gay community) followed, from a guy named Shane:
.
I agree Joey... and I'm one of those that would vote for McCain over Obama.
.
And after that:
.
The truth is Obama is in the drivers seat and unless a near miracle occurs he will win.
.
I responded thusly:
.
I completely agree that Obama could unite the party by choosing Hillary as his running mate, as Clinton has already suggested she would do in the opposite situation. Saying Clinton is the only one who can unite the party seems completely in opposition to the same people's assumption that Obama has all the power, has it in the bag!

And Shane, you make me so sad, as do all the people who say they'd vote for McCain over Clinton/Obama (whomever is not their choice). I'm all for Clinton, but I would rather have a semi-competent progressive liberal in office ANY day than a selfish, warmongering poor/gay-hating conservative (and yes, that is how I describe the views of all conservatives)! I hope you and all the others who say such things see the light before November.
