Learnin' the Blues

Yesterday was a pretty crummy day at work, forgetting to copy something and having one of the trainers passive-aggressively chiding me while I played catch-up (I'm really good at fixing fuckups though without anyone being the wiser, so it worked). Then I went to campus to get the mail with Cheryl and got a $50 parking ticket, then had to appeal it (luckily the Center will pay it if the appeal doesn't go through, which they'd better since it was work-related) and I sat in a cookie. I tried to get a new doctor in LA but they want a referral from my primary care doctor (which I don't have) and wouldn't make an appointment. And so forth.

So I went home and took a bath and listened to the blues and Amy Winehouse and the Beatles and had a beer, then watched Jeopardy and the film An Ideal Husband and made some spaghetti sauce for myself and had a nice dinner, and all was improved. Today continued to be on the up-and-up and I got a lot done at work and had a good lunch. Tonight I'm taking Kendall and possibly Rachelle to see Mrs. Pettigrew Lives for a Day in Century City. Tomorrow Andrew and Shannon and I are going to Disneyland to, among other things, see the new (improved? Andrew was skeptical) Fantasmic! And thankfully Andrew is bringing the shoes I left at home, because these dress shoes are causing mondo blisters. But my first trip to Disneyland sans wheelchair will be a great time, and I can't wait!

Finally, today was the deadline to write Barrett off. Cheryl says if I do hear from him after today I should tell him I'm on my way out with friends and I'd call him back, and then don't. Close that short chapter. Getting to be a long book though!
