And let me settle something once and for all. We Americans seem to think Brits are more sophisticated than we are, due to their intoxicating, sexy accent. Yes, Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley have beautiful, "English" accents. But trust me: about 0.5% of Brits speak with that accent (known here as "RP"). The other 99.5% speak in any variety of unintelligible, horrific and overwhelmingly grating accents (they make Eliza Doolittle sound posh). Think about how silly people from Arkansas sound, then picture how silly someone from Arkansas would sound trying poorly to affect an "English" accent while running his fingernails on a chalkboard. Multiply that by twelve and you have the effect of how REAL English people talk.
