A Little Touch of Star Quality

Those of you who have experienced sub-par renditions of the mega-musical Evita with me (there are several of you) will be happy to know the show in itself is not a deathtrap. I treated myself to my first West End musical of my tenure here (second of my lifetime...the first was Brooke Shields in a solid Chicago) and yes, Evita can bring impressed swelling of artistic tear ducts when done correctly (and with a real Argentinian Eva.
.
Worst change from the original: Keeping the lackluster "You Must Love Me."
.
Best change from the original: Reinstating the original second verse of Eva's "Lament," explaining in more detail the cause of her death and the character's big regret (lyrics follow).
.
The choice was mine and no one else's:
I could have the millions at my feet,
Give my life to people I might never meet,
Or else to children of my own.
Remember, I was very young then
Thought I needed the numbers on my side
Thought the more that loved me, the more loved I'd be
But such things cannot be multiplied.
Oh my daughter,
Oh my son,
Understand what I have done...
.
Eyes...hair...face...image...all has been preserved.
