Just a hodgepodge of ideas and activities.

My TI article is now published! I just got my copy in the mail, and I'll be getting some comp copies and a T-shirt as well. It's the same Hallstatt article (well, basically) as was published in TWIST, so it's not new - but cool, nonetheless.

I'm going to CA in May! Last year I applied for a scholarship to the GriffinDyeworks Fiber Retreat - and wasn't selected. This year, because Red and I are both working, I didn't even think about applying ... but I guess they want me to attend! So - I have a full scholarship to go, meaning I'm just responsible for the plane tickets. I've already made my reservations, submitted my registration info, and put in a class proposal (Hallstatt 3/1 twill weaving - go figure!). Now I need to go to work and put in for the days off.

After being on hiatus from events for a bit - now we're really busy. We did a school demo last week (lots of fun showing the coracle and beehive quern). This weekend I'll be going to Houston to teach leather sewing (and schmoozing with artists, and all that fun stuff). Then we have a demo the following weekend, too.

Then I fly to CA, and then there's a big event in DFW for Memorial Day weekend. We've never been to Steppes Warlord, but it sounds like it's a fun, BIG event - and we can possibly see family, too.

June is also busy, with Texas Folklife Festival. We're starting a new group: The San Antonio Leather Historians ... so far, it's 4 people (Me, Red, and two former co-workers). We'll have items out for show, and will be teaching leather stamping to the masses. We did this for 2 years with Tandy, so now it's just us.

And luckily for scheduling, King's College is NOT the same weekend as TFF (which has been a problem in the past). King's college is a 1-day version of Collegium (for my Caid friends). I've submitted class proposals for leather sewing on the 'Basic' track, and 'Collingwood's 2 pack method for 3/1 Twill' for the advanced track. I haven't heard back from them, but I don't forsee a problem.

Meanwhile, Bean is doing much better in school - while he may have small issues, they seem to be resolved w/o incident, and he has had many days in a row w/o incident. He's also started learning Irish Step Dance after seeing the dancers at the Highland Games. He wants to be 'an Irish Dancer' - and he seems to be doing pretty good in the class. His attention level wavers a bit, but he does seem to be learning the steps and the control necessary. It's once a week in the evening, which works out well.

And - I am getting more hours, due to losing 2 workers at work. It wasn't a good situation, so it'll take some time for a 'full recovery' - but I am now doing more head cashier work, rather than copy center work. It's still the same pay, and now I'm close to 40 hrs a week, which is nice.

Best of all - Red's insurance started! So we are all officially with health insurance now. Once we get the vision and dental cards, Red and I will go get check-ups - but I already used the health insurance card, and it worked just like they said it would, with no 'unexpected charges'.

And - I'm down another 10 lbs since January! So yay me! I'm sure I'm still 'obese' by most charts - but I'll go with small incremental change all the way.

There - an update. More when I have more.
