So, I've been on Facebook for about six months now, and I've played with this game or that time waster. And it's been fun an all, but last night I found a new addiction: ther Wheel Of Friends.
You see, Friday night Jon F. Zeigler had confirmed a friend request from me. When I went to check out his profile, there was a nifty little app called Wheel Of Friends. It had his name in the middle, and the names of all his friends arrayed as spokes in a circle around it, with lines connecting mutual friends.
This intrigued me in two ways. The second was that I had to make a Wheel of my friends. What struck me first was that I recognised several people I had not friended yet. The way they were presented on the wheel made them easier to pick out, to my eye, than the vanilla lists that Facebook normally puts out. So I made a Wheel, then started pouring over my friends (vanilla) lists, searching out people I knew that I was unaware had FB accounts, and friending them.
fred_brackin sent me a message over GoogleTalk: "You dug up Montejon!? He just friended me!" I found quite a few people I hadn't talked to in years, and sent requests. And each time someone confirmed me, I updated my Wheel Of Friends. Then I started getting emails that people in my list were friending each other, so I started updating my Wheel then as well. After I had almost doubled the number of FB friends I had, it occurred to me to start saving the .gif representations of my Wheel. And now, with each iteration of the Wheel (whether that's a new friend or new links between them), I'm going to save an image. Maybe I'll make them into an animated .gif and post it somewhere.
