What had happened to them?
Although the list of my favorite heroes from this meme is not full yet for mere statistic purpouses I will give short statement what had happened to them. Yeah, most of them finished up dead.

Kain was immportal vampire so he couldn't die, although he is literally a hearthless bastard as his heart was torn out of his chest by Raziel.
Tony Stark aka Iron Man still lives although currently in comicverse he is Earth's the most wanted fugitive.
Batman (Bruce Wayne) is officially dead. As much as it might be surprising to someone who doesn't follow comics, now someone else is wearing the cape and the cowl and continue the mission. I'm out of words. Bruce Wayne is the only true Batman.
We all know what had happend to Severus Snape. The same goes with Boromir who died heroically. In LoTR I like also Saruman and Grima. They died also. Unheroically.
Inspector Lestrade has probably worked peacefully at his post till the retirement.
D'Artagnan did die at the very end of Viscount de Bragelonne, killed by a cannonball, just after he get the promotion to the rank of marshal if I remember correct.
The death of James Norrinton is a classic example of "we don't know what to do with a hero, so let him die in heroic way". I see at least three more interesing ideas what could have been done with Norrington, but well... the POTC writers did they as they did they.
Gambit is quite safe for now. Doesn't show often in the comics but compared to the idea that he was suppouse to be a traitor and die shortly after he appeared in the comics it's not so bad. However, he died in Ultimate universum.
Zorro is a hero from the good old times when the characters from tv didn't die.
Elwood Blues spend nearly half of his life in jail, but nothing really bad happened to him except for the fact that he lost his brother :(
Van Helsing did survive in Dracula novel. The worst thing what had happened and concderns this hero is that his journal, which is one of the best part of the book, is very short.
Darth Vader. His story is well know. Enslaved by Dark Side and suit he had to wear, more machine than a man, lost his beloved etc. Died as well.
Sikora survived till the very end of "Odwróceni" tv show, but despite all his service and the fact that thanks to him the gangster Blacha become the state witness and helped to put an end on activity of mafia, he was accused of taking the bribe and kicked out of the police.
