My first update in a while here on LJ and it's a bitchfest...
So, some if not most of you have no doubt have heard, PSN is down due to a hacker intrusion, just in time for the Easter holidays when there will be a whole lot of gamers online, not to mention the fact several online games have been released. It is a bit frustrating that Sony didn't actually say something was wrong until well after the fact, however, they shut down the network for good reason, as an effort to prevent sensitive materials belonging to each client from being leaked such as credit card information and security. That was a great thing, and I hope PSN is able to get back on it's feet. I'd also like to add that the testimonal released by Anon seems quite genuine, considering that while it may not be on best terms with Sony, one of it's creeds is to not harm or stop the consumers, so if it was them, they really would be shooting themselves in the foot.
My anger really is toward whoever the Hell hacked into such a well-loved and well-used system. They knew exactly what they were doing when they chose the occasion of which to hack. They KNEW that many gamers would want to be trying out their new games to play with others online. That really is NOT cool at all. You'd think with all of their smarts they'd try something more constructive rather than to ruin the liesure time of gamers who own a PS3. Being the cocky bastards they are, they probably wanted to simply prove they could do something as low as that, that and humiliate Sony. Unfortunate still is the fact some owners of PS3 are now completely boycotting the console for an XBox, which to me is a little childist. I've never owned an XBox so I'm not saying if it's better or worse than a PS3, but this childish and entitled behavior really isn't the best course of action. PSN isn't gone, what the good people are doing is trying to fortify the system again so the next time something like this happens, it will be a lot more difficult for hackers to get into.
However, here is what I like to say to the hackers: I hope you get sprung. I hope you get arrested and named and shamed and go to jail because what you did was a CRIME. This wasn't some website or forum, this is a full-fledged corporation who can legally burn your sorry, inconsiderate arses. On top of that, you really have let down quite a few gamers who just want to go online and unwind. Sure, fresh air, reading and playing in the park won't do us any harm, but we bought that PS3 and connected online for a reason- being hacked by inconsiderate so and so's like you wasn't one of them. Refer to my icon- that is what you are.
