Wife catches husband preying on girls online
Fri Nov 13 2009

A suspicious wife has posed as a schoolgirl online to catch her husband attempting to groom children for sex.

Cheryl Roberts, 61, pretended to be a 14-year-old girl and became involved in an internet chatroom discussion with husband Robert.

The mother-of-two set up the sting after discovering a lewd message written to a child on his study room computer, reading "You are a f****** beautiful b****".

Mrs Roberts snared her husband after setting up a fake account on another computer in the neighbouring living room.

Roberts believed he was chatting to a teenager when he performed indecent acts on himself in front of a webcam - while his wife watched from just metres away.

He also propositioned her for sex, the Daily Mail reports.

Mrs Roberts informed Welsh police who seized the 68-year-old's computer, which was also found to contain child pornography images.

Roberts, from Bridgend in South Wales, admitted engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and making and possessing illegal images.

He said during his police interview that he was prepared to have sex with a child but had yet to do so.

The pensioner avoided jail and was placed on a three-year community order in the Cardiff Crown Court.

He was also banned from having access in person or online to children.

The couple are currently undergoing divorce proceedings.

Two thieves dressed as classic video game characters Mario and Luigi are being hunted by police for robbing a taxi driver in New York over Halloween.

Security camera footage at a petrol station on Staten Island, New York, showed the two men dressed as the Mario Brothers wrestling the driver while another friend dressed in a tuxedo acted as a lookout.

One of a group of four, two of whom were dressed in the colourful overalls and caps, reached into the pocket of the 48-year-old cabbie while he was driving, according to the New York Daily News.

The driver then stopped the taxi at the petrol station and asked them to pay and leave but instead was assaulted by the two costumed men.

After beating up the driver the two Mario Brothers robbed him and fled the scene, police said.

The assault took place at around 4am on November 1.

Nintendo's Italian-American plumber character Mario first found fame in the 1981 classic game Donkey Kong.

Mario's brother Luigi was introduced in the arcade game Mario Bros in 1983 and have appeared in more than 200 video games, a television show and a 1993 science fiction film.
