Cebu City: Day 1

August 1, 2017

Hi, guys. It's been a while since I last posted about my travels and unfortunately, there are still a lot to write. The past month has been one a difficult one, with Jonghyun passing and all. I was devastated and I still am. I am coping up with grief but there are still moments where I would just lose it and break down. I haven't fully accepted the fact that he isn't here anymore, but life goes on and I'm trying to live it.

Sadness aside, this post is all about my trip in Cebu City, the first Spanish settlement and the oldest city in the Philippines! I went there from August 1 to 4 last 2017 with Bryan and Hannah.

Our flight was at one in the morning of August 1st and I was dead tired because my enrollment was on the 31st of July from 7 AM to 4 PM and I had not packed a single clothing for the trip. We arrived at Mactan International Airport at past two in the morning, so with no further ado, we took an Uber and went straight to Golden Peak Suites, the condotel we booked through AirBnb, because we only had less than four hours to sleep before our scheduled city tour at 7 AM.

We hired a driver who we discovered at a Cebu travel vlog in Youtube. For a two-day tour, we were charged Php 3, 000 each, or USD 58. On our first day, we went to exactly 10 tourist spots and unfortunately, I have incomplete photos because we were engrossed with the tour and did not capture everything.

1. Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House: Considered to be one of the oldest residential houses in the Philippines, the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House was built sometime between 1675 and 1700. It was originally owned by a Chinese merchant named Don Juan Yap and his wife, Doña Maria Florido. The entrance fee is Php 50, or USD 1.

2. Fort San Pedro: Established in 1565 under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, the conqueror of the Philippines, Fort San Pedro served as an army garrison, a rebel stronghold, a prison camp and the city zoo. The entrance fee is Php 30 or USD 0.60 for adults, while Php 20 or USD 0.40 for students, PWDs, and senior citizens.
