Life is crazy
Life has been nuts. My dad got into a huge fight with my uncle and aunt; the whole family is breaking up and my mom (who has dementia) needs special care. So. All this means I'm helping my parents sell their house and move up here to the Portland area where they can get the help they both need. In order to do that, though, I've had to mediate an ongoing dispute between my stubborn-as-a-jackass father and my asshole-but-generally-well-meaning uncle. I even had to fly down to NM with a few day's notice back in August to deal with mediating in person for a week.
Thankfully I managed to move things along to a better place within a few days, so I spent a couple of days with Sabot, Carol, and Scritch. That, as usual, was much more enjoyable then spending time with my blood family.
So we're all aiming for my parents to be up here around the beginning of the year. I need to follow up with the community I'm putting my parents into about some things, and it's all dependent on us selling that house, but it should be a good place for them. It's also about 45 minutes from here, so close enough that I can drive there in an emergency but far enough away that I don't think my dad will randomly show up.
Additionally, on top of all this, I've begun talking to my younger brother for the first time in a decade. It's odd but we may have actually connected due to all this drama. I'll readily admit that I was an asshole to him, and he's admitted that he was also partly to blame for the whole thing between us, but yeah.
In other news, work has been work. I've transferred to a new position in the same agency. I have a much fancier sounding title, but honestly it's less stress. It's also a bit less pay, but it's worth it.
I've been hanging out with some folks around here, trying to be more outgoing and part of the group. It's taken a year but I even went to a party hosted by another couple of furs. So yeah, I'm developing a social life that doesn't revolve around work, which I think is partly because of the remote aspect to my job, and partly because I'm tired of being isolated from other "like-minded" folks (i.e., kinky as fuck AB/DLs, pups, and furs).
Finally, I just pre-reg for Further Confusion. I'm excited to be going back to my first con. It's been 20 years, and so I know things have changed, but yeah. FC was always my first love. I'm hoping to meet up with old friends there. Let me know if you're going to be attending.
