The internet here at the house died on Thursday, and has been down ever since. I'm not too impressed with Covad right now; so much for the 24 hour RTO SLA that is in my business internet. *snort*.
So this morning I get to stay home and wait for the tech to fix things. Annoyed I am, without a doubt. Overall though a weekend without internet isn't that big of a deal, if we want to find out when a movie is playing we can still call the theater. Using the phone number found in something called a "telephone book".
Although if I had switched our phone service to the Ooma thing we would be fucked. Kind of odd to think about, there's really no alternative for these sorts of things anymore. And the different possibilities are getting smaller and smaller each day.
Right now I can still post here via my cell phone, but since I live in (a) a pit and (b) right next to a hill of iron my reception is minimal. Normally I have to go up to the top of the hill and the driveway in order to get enough signal to post.
Mighty cold out this morning. Ah well, this is what happens when you live in an internet hole. Yes, out in the sticks, far away from any beacon of civilization, and within 10 miles of Baltimore.
Might as well be Alaska.
