Ah September. The weather finally starts to cool down, kids go back to school at last, and I'm chopping wood again. It's been awhile since I have posted or written thoughts, so what's going on?
Well first work continues to be stable, if a bit rudderless. Getting paid well, but in a holding place on career. Hear a lot about people saying that having a career plan is pointless in this new world gig economy, but my thought is if you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there...
So I continue to have a plan. Finish the college thing by next June, then make a formal decision on where to go and what to do. I have my CISSP, a BS in Computer Science/CyberSecurity is more than enough to go where I want to go, just need to start thinking about where/what that is. It's not at Discovery I will say that. Somewhere else, but if there is one good thing about being in a holding pattern it's that I have the time and the space to get this stuff done. Never would have working in DC, the commute was just too long and unpredictable to have gone to classes. Something to think about.
Home life is good, Alex is feeling much better and we have been doing a lot of things. This past weekend the family went to Renn Faire on Sunday, the weather turned out to be really nice, the rain on Saturday kept the dust down, and the crowds were actually manageable. Didn't see anything in particular to buy, but had a good time. And had good family time, would go off with Bri and she was actually being more like an adult and less like a person who wants to get into the most trouble/danger possible. She is 10, she lost her last tooth, and she is really starting to grow up. It's good to see, and fun to do things like RF after about 20 years of always running after SOMEONE...
I wore my Captain Dashing outfit and had fun with it. Kids love the pirate image, and I play it up a bit. At this point I have pretty much everything needed to make the costume perfect, so I'll enjoy it for awhile...
School stuff: Taking two classes this 8 week session, four for the semester. One is Cyber in business, I should be able to do that but it's hard, and the other is Business leadership which is going to be REALLY hard. I have to focus in on the second one while at the same time keep it up on the first. This is where it gets tough; I am basically taking a full college load while at the same time being the Treasurer of the PTA and the President of the town. Glad I have a lot of drugs to get me through.
And I picked up another car: Bought a 1986 Porsche 928S with Bitcoins a few months back, been putting the car back together over the past few months. It's nice to be able to work on something like this; the car was somewhat broken when I got it but the paint looks good it's a beautiful Prussian Blue and the major motor issues were at least fixable. So I've been running things down one at a time, and have been enjoying it. Good to keep those skills up.
Bitcoin mining repairs are going well, I continue to get business and this turned out to be fairly profitable all things considered. It's nice to be able to use my hand skills and get paid for it, setting aside the money for now, maybe I'll use it to start a consulting business as my next thing.
And the drugs are working well for the ADD. Haven't had coffee or caffeine in many months now, don't miss it, bladder fees much better. I do need to keep an eye on the overall health, but I'l holding myself together, keeping weight under 240 pounds, and have all my hair. And maybe good looks.
So things are ok. Now on to some stretching and getting ready to get back to this work thing...
