This is a cool meme: What would I do if I found:
$10: Would go into the wallet, or a drawer.
$100: Would go into the money box upstairs along with a few hundred others
$1,000: Would go into general cash flow, maybe buy a watch
$10,000: Would go into savings, part into T-Rowe funds(4k), part to pay off any short term debts (2k), part would go into new appliances and house upgrades(2k), part donated (2k).
$100,000: Hm. Would go into long term savings/investments. $10,000 would go into investments, $1,000 into a watch, $100 into drawer, donate $5,000..
$1,000,000: Longer term investments. Would pay off house. Would probably buy a new minivan or something.
Interestingly enough, the largest sum of money to hit at random was about $14,000. Of which I paid off all debts (4k), established a 5k savings cushion that is still there, spent a k on Roombas, a K on appliances, and donated the rest.
Next biggest was 7k which went for a new roof. The 3k last year went into charity (2k) and misc stuff (1k).
I've never received an inheritance, and never expect one. So this is mostly an academic exercise.
