Today I spent the morning watching the innauguration (yaay Obama!!!) then went out to split some firewood from that tree which fell last year.
Since I'm getting towards the trunk, I switched over to the 16 inch electric Craftsman chainsaw. The stock chain is not good; I pretty much had to do a quick sharpen after every log, but I did manage to get 4 18-20 inch logs cut off.
Then it was splitting time. Tried the splitting maul, it would bounce off the very very hard wood. Sharpened it on the grinder, then finally got a purchase into the wood. Then used the 16 pound sledgehammer to drive it in and split the logs in half. Once that was done, splitting them down was not too hard.
Managed to split an entire dump trailer of wood. Which is a *LOT*, no question and has solved the whole need wood issue for at least a week, maybe two. We shall see how it goes since it's supposed to be cold this week.
On the weight front, I am at 221 pounds today, however that was after breakfast. Which means I gained 5 pounds over the weekend from eating out at the con, drinking a monster amount of booze, and in general partying hard. Note I did not eat super excessively, dinner on Friday, big breakfast Saturday, dinner Saturday night, lunch Sunday, then ate out at Ruby Tuesday's on Sunday night with the family. Who all turned out to pick me up which was super-sweet.
So there you go. I'll eat normally today (bowl of cereal for breakfast, bowl of ramen for lunch, just had stir fry homemade for dinner) then see how I look tomorrow morning. Should be able to get back down by eating "normally", but if I can put on 5 pounds in 3 days just by eating out at restaurants then something is quite interesting.
