Lately I've been gearing up and planning to do NaNoWriMo again this year. I've attempted it the last two years in a row but failed pretty miserably (ie, less than 5k words both times). I just completely fizzled out after I realized that I (a) had absolutely no ideas about where I wanted the story to go, (b) hated all my characters, and (c) was really close to just ripping all my hair out just trying to make my daily word counts. So, this year, there has been actual planning involved. I'm using Scrivener to write an outline of where I want the story to go day-by-day and I really hope that that'll help. So far it seems to be working, I actually like what I've come up with and that's a start.
