i learned 5 things today while working & listening to radiolab that made me marvel at this wonderful universe we live in...

1. hookwarms can help eliminate allergies, asthma, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, etc in a cutting edge "throwback" called helminthic therapy.

2. infection by toxoplasma gondii can cause schizophrenia, visual impairment, and neurological birth defects may also have other personality altering affects, cause people to have more car accidents and seems to be the reason we love cats.

3. baboons can become less violent by eliminating the more aggressive members of the clan which suggests that perhaps peace is part of human's natural history. (this leads to my favorite quote of the day: I do think that women could make politics irrelevant; by a kind of spontaneous cooperative action the like of which we have never seen; which is so far from people’s ideas of state structure or viable social structure that it seems to them like total anarchy - when what it really is, is very subtle forms of interrelation that do not follow some heirarchal pattern which is fundamentally patriarchal. The opposite to patriarchy is not matriarchy but fraternity, yet I think it’s women who are going to have to break this spiral of power and find the trick of cooperation. ~Germaine Greer)

4. foxes that are domesticated as dogs has been will exhibit cute physical attributes like floppy ear, curved tail, and varied fur colors which if you trace the human physiological changes, human beings have been domesticating ourselves.

5. human beings are born with number sense and it's logarithmic!

gosh-darn-it! radiolab is cool. all that, in 3 podcasts... science - wow.
