I'm going to try one of these list thingies that everyone is so fond of.

a: Surgery in the morning.... please don't make me go?

i. I've been informed that I will be picked up by my Dad.  Physically picked up ...and dragged kicking and screaming if necessary.

ii. Should be out of the hospital by Sat afternoon but will likely be heavily ( Read more... )

Now that it's after the surgery... it occurs to me... shouldn't we be wishing the *surgeon* good luck?... cause really, I couldn't influence much from my position. lol

Well, we were wishing you good luck in getting a lucky surgeon. ;)

We would not know which one you get and how to reach them and wish them luck anyway.

My Surgeon was totally awesome... He was such a sweet heart too, holding my hand and telling me jokes when I was freaking out...lol. He seems to have done what he was supposed to do, but I wish I could've spoken to him to make sure it went well. The size of the holes in the back of my throat are *HUGE* and very very deep... I'm wondering if this was expected. If he did speak to me afterward, I don't remember it. I just remember freaking out upon awakening because there was something tied around my neck and a tube down my throat and I couldn't breathe....it was scary.

Yeah, I remember that form my kidney surgery 8 years ago. They even told me that I would have some tubes and all, but of course I didn't remember that right after waking up after surgery and panicked until a nurse calmed me down and told me where I was and that everything went well.

And at least I could talk. That must be even worse if you can't ask proper questions.

I was trying to yell and all that came out were these painful squeaks and squeals... They gave me a quick shot of some kind of sedative and things got better from there. I just don't remember much. I was up and out of bed on my own within 45 minutes... went downstairs and got an iced coffee...lol

Ah, well, maybe that is better than not being able to get up because you have tubes to drain the blood flow from the wound and to catch urine in hanging out of your body. Also, there is that thing where they cut through my stomach muscles to get to the kidney. You'd be amazed what you need your stomach muscles for. There is practically nothing you can do without using them.

The girl next to me in the room just had abdominal surgery... did not look like fun. I suffered later when the drugs started burning off. I know that by far my surgery was nothing too major... but it was a big deal for me. Hopefully once I start healing, some of the mental distress I've been suffering from lately will be relieved.

I hope so, too.

My surgery was not as bad as from the woman I shared a room with. She had a transplant. I only got stuff cut away from my kidney and actually still had my own. And everything healed and is almost normal now. :D

This girl kind of lucked out in a way... the dr.s thought she had Crohns (sp?) disease, but it turned out she just had a badly twisted colon... She'll be better than new in a few weeks.

Glad to hear that everything is going well for you know. My drugs sure are doing a much better job for me than I was expecting. I didn't think i'd be up and chatting that's for damn sure.

Yeah, sometimes we have to get lucky like that.

YAY! drugs. I am glad they let you type and chat away on the internet. :D

I guess that is distracting from the remaining pain that doesn't get blended out by them.

Oh, no!

Not being able to eat apples is a really bad thing. Hope the swelling and irritation will go down and you can eat again soonish.

You should not risk anything with the fruit acid, though. So if it takes a while, you have my permission to let the apples rot.
