Dear Gideon,
The Alhambra trip went off without a hitch. There was a bit of menacing behavior from some fellows with big, curved swords but it turns out they speak the universal language of Gold and everything worked out fine. There were no hyphenated adversaries this time. The temple was completely devoid of llama-priests or alligator-monks or even model-actresses. It was weird.
I was hired (as usual) to ferry some people to Alhambra. It gave me a chance to put The Ten of Swords through her paces some more so that part was good. Being away from Dinah is even harder now that we're engaged. It's like that ring has magical powers. The returns to port are even better, however, so things nearly balance out.
Once we got to the temple, Addison, Ithunn, Theo, and Surayya traded stories and I listened. Well, I kind of spaced out in the middle of Addison's tale because I caught some writing on a far wall. I spent some time working on it and it's a map! In story form. Which is just about the best way to leave directions I've seen. Anyway, I've compared what's on that wall with Dinah's charts and we have our next destination.
Yes. I said 'our'. And 'we'. I've become swept up in Addison's latest madness in an attempt to 'show those pikers what the Houses can do' or something like that.
Also, we rode camels. Addison seemed to have some trouble with his but I made friends with mine. I call her Muffin. She likes long walks on the beach and...more long walks on the beach. And spitting.
