Forget regret, or life is yours to miss

Walking along the shoreline, the waves brushing at their ankles, they look to avoid jellyfish, but focus on little more than how amazing it feels to be where they are at. Along with the children playing in the sand and the sound of the waves, her voice could be heard:

"You know, back in high school, I would have killed for an chance like this, but now...."
"But now, it's awkward.."

In 8th grade, he announced he wanted to become a psychologist. His teacher, knowing the size of his intent, professed "You know, you can't save everyone" to which he promptly responded "but I can try".

Never would he expect, in his adulthood, to be returning to a mindset he shaped for himself as an adolescent. Even less so did he ever expect to have lost it in the firstplace.
