So.

Over the last few months I've been really really cought up in a lot of reading and research. I've been spending a lot of time looking at and reading about a lot of artwork. My major focus has been the artwork of religions. Mostly of the catholic religion, and the _vast_ number of churchs and peices of artwork that it and the vatican have either commissioned, or ended up with.

I've been a huge lore junkie on things like the knights templar, the priory of sion, the illuminati and the masonic lodges/groups. These topics for some reason captivate me in a way that very few things have in a while. Theres always more information that can be found, or someone else has a different outlook on something that happened in history and can tie it to some massive group that runs amuck from behind closed doors... its all so bloody cool.

I am not a religion person at all. Far from it. I find the idea a fantasy story, at best that was used to attempt to instill moral choices in people as they grew up. Fanatism has taken it far beyond what it was ment to be, and people suffer because of it.

And yet.

I can't get over how interesting the lore and myth is behind all the artwork and visual depictions that have been created from so many different people.

The art work that covers rome and vatican city is amazing. I need to find a way to go and see this stuff in person.

When I first started doing this research, it lead me to a book that deals with some of these topics in an adventure/national treasure style chase through rome. that book was Angels and Demons, which is coming out this friday.

That book, while a work of fiction, has gotten me even more wrapt up in the lore and history of vatican city.

and oh man, does it make me wish I could speak multiple languages and then break into the vatican hidden archives.

how awesome would that be..

oi.
