I engaged in putting up the Christmas decorations at my house this weekend. I love the scent of a fresh Christmas tree but a couple of years ago opted for a small fake one. I took the tree from my closet into the living area, opened the box and started taking out the branches. Instantly I smelled something foul and said aloud what is that smell? As I got to the bottom I sprang back a bit and said "oh my god what is that"! Michael was helping and came over and took a look and we both started laughing. Those pesky little mice that had invaded my home decided it would be a good idea to build a nest in the bottom of my christmas tree box! It looked almost complete with fuzz and paper, even little pieces of purple, green and gold feathers - my Mardi Gras feathers - entwinged throughout. Needless to say we tossed the entire tree, box and all, onto the fire pit.
Oh, and how ironic that just a couple of weeks after getting rid of my mouse problem, Mike and Holly bought dwarf hamsters. Bah, rodents. A rat, is a rat, is a rat in my book.
