I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and the weather just before I left the office became intimidatingly horrid. It wasn't raining when I got to my car but the thick, black clouds overhead and the brisk winds surely meant all hell was about to break loose. I started going the back way to the doctor's office when the wind picked up and it started to hail. All of a sudden I looked in my rear view mirror and there was nothing but stuff flying everywhere - garbage cans, tree branches, lawn furniture. I began to panic and grabbed the cell phone to call Josh. (Like he would save me lol) I was driving like a mad woman and quickly found myself lost, unable to see from the thick hail, rain and wind, while my car was being shook like a tin can. I'm screaming on the phone to Josh who is yelling back at me to calm down whats going on when I see a cop car and think I'M SAVED. Its one of those empty heaps they park on the side with no cops in it! So I whip up into an unknown, what I think is a driveway and nearly climb under the front seat, clutching my cell phone, in tears, and trying to tell Josh I'm about to die!
Five minutes later all was well. The person living in the house came out with an umbrella as I was halfway up to his doorstep in my car, banging on the window and yelling if I was all right. I was fine except for the fact that when he opened the door I nearly spit my heart out of my mouth. My car was fine. His yard, the street, as well as the other yards in the area looked like all hell had broken loose. I endured my first small twister in a Dodge, Neon. Go figure!
I did make it to my doctor's appointment. All is well and I even gained 5 pounds. I'm surprised I didn't lose those 5 pounds on the seat of my car! I think its time for a glass of wine or two, or three ...
