So this episode we get a lot more focus on Touga Kiryuu, the red-headed student council president, and like I thought he would be, he is in fact a total creeper, who has no problem with misleading Utena into thinking that he is her prince on the white horse. Boo, no getting in the way of the yuri you bastard! I don't care how nice your voice is! And it is a nice voice, since it's the same guy who does Admiral Aokiji on One Piece and Pandora the Magician on Yugioh, just to name a couple roles I'm familiar with. Though as big a creeper he is, it is not to the extent that his younger sister Nanami is, for in addition to being the resident Mean Girl (Trademark), seems to be rather obsessed with her big brother. This is only the second Yuri series I've seen, and they've both managed to involve incest. Just thought I'd mention that.
In any event, Utena is determined that Anthy should go out and make some new friends, aside from Chu-Chu, and when Nanami and Touga send dresses to them for the ball, where Anthy's been nominated for Dance Queen...well, there's some dithering there, but eventually they go there, as you knew they would. Touga turns on the charm for Utena, and of course Nanami lures Anthy into a trap, how dare she take her brother's attention away from her, and when Anthy's dress gets soaked in wine, what do you know, it starts dissolving. Fortunately, Utena quickly abandons her dress, whips up a new one for Anthy out of a tablecloth, and they start dancing. So yeah, not too much actually 'happens' happens, but it's a good character episode.
And next time, the focus is to be on our young blue-haired friend on the student council with the constant stop-watch timing thing, Miki.
