koi_no_soshan 1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it’s over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.
Drabble One, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Wolzard. Song, Dancing Without Malice or Mercy.
Wolzard stood opposite to the Magirangers. They’d definitely grown in power since their last encounter. Particularly, MagiRed.
“That you have gained such power without the Darkness, proves that you belong to it all the more.”
“Bullshit!” MagirRed yelled out as he charged, his MagiSword drawn and ready. “Our infinite courage is far greater than the darkness!”
“Foolishness” Wolzard blocked the attack with the reforged fang of his master, the Absolute God N Ma. “Let me show you what you’re lacking.” He struck without mercy, a huge spark of energy lashing across MagiRed’s body, and for the most infinitesimal moment, Wolzard lingered, unsure of what to do next.
Drabble Two, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Lunagel. Song, Indescribable Grief.
“Damn you, Raigel!” Lunagel could never forgive herself for her weakness. “Does your treachery know no end!?” She rushed past the fallen body of her comrade Sungel and swung her staff at the monster before her.
“Hmmph!” Meemy, the one formerly known as the Heavenly Saint Raigel, laughed his high laugh at her as he blocked her attack with his fan. “I can’t be blamed if Sungel is still foolish enough to cling to such outdated values after all this time.”
“No.” Lunagel gathered her strength, drawing upon reserves that had been untouched since she made herself the key that sealed the Gates of Infershia. “That you’ve forgotten the value of everything Blagel taught you and Sungel, shows that you are the fool!” With that, she attacked with all the magic of the moon.
Drabble Three, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Magiel. Song, Ascend Into the True Faith.
Magiel looked down upon the domain of Magitopia, the heavenly realm above the Human world, and above the foul pits of Infershia. She saw as the Heavenly Saints known as the Legendary Five Magicians, the ones who established Magitopia long ago, granted choice portions of their power to the Magirangers, the humans whose courage proved them worthy of the magic they wielded.
For thousands of years she’d strived to keep the three worlds separate and independent of one another, but now it was all falling apart as Infershia continued its attacks on the human world time and again. “Perhaps,” She said in her booming, aged voice, “The time is almost upon us, for a new legend, a new order to arise for the three worlds.” She yet doubted though, for even with their courage, could these humans truly surpass the accomplishments of their Heavenly Saint forbearers?
Drabble Four, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Snowgel. Song, The Pile of Griefs.
Snowgel lamented. It seemed her lot in life to lament. She’d trained under the Legendary Five Magicians, and was among the oldest living beings in all creation, despite her present infant form. Even so, all the power and knowledge that she’d possessed and passed on through the countless ages of the three worlds, what good had it done her, had it done anyone?
“Miyuki.” She called out the name of her disciple, the one who she’d granted the power of magic to all those years ago. She’d desired that power to protect her family and the human world that they’d lived in after the sacrifice that her husband Blagel had made with his power, after being betrayed by Raigel’s desire for even greater power than was his to have. That power had cost her her life.
And now her children came, demanding greater power still. How on all the Three Worlds could they expect her to do so?
Drabble Five, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, N Ma. Song, The Infinite Abyss.
Hunger. Unrelenting hunger. Why was I cursed with such unceasing hunger? Nothing is ever enough. All other life can find satisfaction, but not I. I am N Ma, the absolute God, and yet, there is no pleasure in that name, that power. There is only hunger, and nightmare.
Drabble Six, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Branken. Song, The Enlarged Soul.
Branken the Victory General stood on that very cusp. The gates of Infershia were being opened, Lunagel’s life would soon be exhausted, and the tens of thousands of Zobils, Hades Beasts, Hades Beastmen, they would all be released from their imprisonment to lay waste to the surface world of the humans, and make it into a fitting monument to his lord and master whose fang he wielded, the Absolute God N Ma.
“Magirangers!” He roared as he charged against them in their Majin form MagiKing. “Today you will learn the price of defying the victory general once and for all!” His attacks were unrelenting, fueled as they were by the limitless darkness of his master. The Magirangers were falling, had fallen, there was no possibility for them to defeat him, for they did not possess the magic of ice.
Drabble Seven, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Sungel. Song, Sank Memories, More Deep.
He was Sungel, a great hero, a mighty Heavenly Saint Warrior. He had as his familiar the Genie Smoky, and his modes of conveyance included both the magic carpet Scarpet, and the magic train Travelion, which could transform into Tetsujin Travelion.
As such, it took him every reserve of strength he had to endure Raigel’s curse for over fifteen years, forced to subsist on bugs as he dwelled around the cave in which Raigel’s mummified body had been sealed away. Would that he could find Smoky’s lamp again, summon him, and find him the one who could break the curse…alas, the body of a frog was all but useless to such a task, unable to properly rub a lamp.
Naturally, when he saw Urara the Blue Magiranger for the first time, he thought her an answer from the Heavenly Saints after so many years of prayer. This did not change even after the curse was lifted.
Drabble Eight, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Miyuki. Song, Each Lullaby.
From the garden of souls, Miyuki Ozu watched over her children. She wished that she could rejoin them, let them know that she was still alive, comfort them in their times of need. She saw as Tsubasa rushed into the nightmare that Kai had been trapped in to save his younger brother, and they both very nearly perished. She’d saved them, but had to say goodbye far too soon. She saw as Urara forced herself to fill her own role in the family, acting as the surrogate mother for them all; she was still in college, it was still to early for her to take on such burdens, to be always patient and supportive no matter what. She saw as Makito fought so hard to defend Houka’s marriage plans to a man that he despised, simply to make her as happy as possible.
But she could not rejoin them. Even as she gave them the power they needed to overcome Victory General Branken, she dared not whisper a word of it to them. The reason was simple; Wolzard, the corrupted form of her husband Isamu, known as the Heavenly Saint Blagel, was still trapped in the darkness, and she did not have it in her to face her husband in battle again, not with the power that she’d gained to defend his legacy in the first place.
Drabble Nine, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Vancuria. Song, Reminiscence Which Swallows Everything.
She could remember it, the day when she’d discovered the power to become Nai and Mare.
“It was three hundred years,” Nai started off as she looked at Mare.
“Ago.” Mare finished, always taking the tail end of their sentences.
“The last of the vampires had died,” Nai said without a hint of regret.
“Aside from us.” Mare could scarcely remember their faces, their bonds nonexistent.
“And we’d gained enough blood to form a second body,” Nai said with a smile.
“That we did.” Mare said, and despite the perpetual company they kept, never alone, there was still that feeling of emptiness, the one that had drawn them in service to their Absolute God, N Ma.
“Shall we, then?” The Nightmare sisters called out, as they rejoined into Vancuria.
Drabble Ten, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, Meemy. Song, No Knowledge of Wisdom
If there was one thing that Meemy, the Madou Priest of the Absolute God N Ma, could not stand, it was talk of courage. He detested and despised it, and sneered every time he thought of his former life as Raigel the Heavenly Saint. Constantly preening before that fool Blagel in an attempt to gain as much magic as he could, just when was it when he’d finally realized that he’d never gain the power that he desired from that man? When was it that he’d heard the voice of N Ma in his ear, showing him the path to that which he’d truly desired? It mattered not, for he’d chosen his eternal path, become a new being that had cast off his owl name and meager power in favor of the supremacy of Darkness.
Naturally, the moment when he was struck down by his fellow disciple Sungel, was the moment he realized his own foolishness.
