For Juri Arisugawa, it was difficult getting over Shiori Tatatsuki; despite everything that had happened, even if the details of some of those events had become more difficult to recall (Who was it that she’d kept dueling? It wasn’t Ruka, who even if he did have decent enough intentions went about them in the most ass-backwards fashion possible). Nevertheless, it was something she had to do; it was after one of those duels, against that…someone…that she’d recognized that the Shiori who’d taught her to believe in miracles was not the Shiori who currently attended Ohtori Academy, and there was no good reason for her to confuse her feelings for the former with the latter.

“Juri, here’s the book you were looking for.” Miki Kaoru said as he climbed down the ladder; unlike Juri, he hadn’t insisted on staying late for fencing practice and thus avoided badly spraining his ankle. Juri was okay with that; after all, he was far from perfect, his relationship with his twin sister Kozue was all the evidence on needed for that. In fact, it was actually something they shared in common, a propensity towards loving a shadow.

“Thank you Miki. I know you have your own work to attend to.” Juri thought of the time that they’d spent together, and not just in the Fencing Club; whether when attending to their duties in the student council, which seemed so much less significant as of late, or just free moments like this, time passed so easily. Their time and history together was decidedly lacking in the drama that characterized her relationships with nearly everyone else in her life, which made it something of a reprieve in the face of the madness of the Ohtori Academy.

“Your welcome, and it’s no bother at all; after all, you’d do the same for me.” Juri knew that he was right, and began to wonder…

“Miki?” She made sure that she had his full attention, made sure that he knew that this was not just idle chatter, just with the right inflection of his name. “Would it be possible for us to have dinner? Without your sister?” He blushed, and Juri found that if she allowed herself to, she could enjoy that indeed.
