(no subject)
i haven't done a true update in a really long time. let's see if i can pull one off (as i kill time doing laundry). i'm just so bad at updating. i'm barely ever at a computer anymore...or if i am i only obsessively check my email. lots of stuff has been happening, but i can't think of them right now. i'm busy, i know that...mostly work and occasionally class.
today i went to the bug faire at the la natural history museum. i was suuuper excited, although i made a resolution to buy no pets because (1) i'm going to be gone for most of next year and (2) the death of mona was pretty harsh. i was hanging around krazy 8's invertebrates and ilia went craaazy, she bought a baby giant african millipede (so cute!), a zaire olive millipede, and a white legged millipede. justine bought a mexican pink toe for her friend etos and another beautiful tarantula for herself (i forgot the breed). then i handled a huuuuge giant african millipede (6 yrs old!) and i fell in love...i just got all sad and yup...i bought another millipede. this time i bought an olive millipede, named Olly (so creative am i ^_~). i fear that i will not have enough time to love Olly so ilia's loaning me her little cage that i can carry him around in. just to make sure he gets fed and watered appropriately. i sincerely don't get home until about 12am and by then i'm so completely exhausted i don't have the energy think about putting in that effort. i don't think i can handle another death, that's for sure. and yes, for sure Olly's a male. i was never sure about how to sex them because (as i now know) Mona is a girl. i was just messing with Olly in the car and i found a black spot on the bottom of his body with very small legs. it's the specialized legs used for transferring sperm!
i was thinking about buying maybe a chocolate giant african millipede (as a mona look alike is not what i'm looking for right now) but the only one was at this other breeder called the spider patch. sooo sketchy, i wouldn't buy anything from them. all the millipedes looked very unhealthy with mites overrunning them completely. and for sure i wouldn't trust buying a spider from them.
i got my hair cut very short this time. it's called an A-line (so the woman said) and i'm not sure if i like it. it's just basically a very short cut in the back (which i really like because i like to run my hand through it, it's very furry) and long in the front. kind of like what i had sophomore year in high school. i'm really not sure if i like it, but it's not terrible. it's more bold than i've managed in a really long time. i'm pretty sure it's growing on me.
i've been obsessed with reading sherlock holmes lately. i've almost read the entire Complete Works...just a few hundred more pages to go! it's so much fun...though it is getting a bit old. it's just a wonderful book to read right before bed because it's just pure fun, not too much thinking going on.
oh man...so tired. i really want to sleep but my clothes are drying =P
oh! our shower got clogged so the plumber came and was down in the living room (because the pipe runs down behind our bookshelves) and miscalculated..so water went spraying everywhere. black smelly water. a lot of books got damaged, possibly a stereo speaker, and we had this annoying vacuum drying our carpet for two days straight. our entire downstairs is a nightmare with everything everywhere. ah...how lovely I.V. is. i think for sure that as soon as i get the chance, i will move out of it. this summer though, since i'm not going to be around for very much, i will have to depend on other people. couches mostly. yup. i think we have to move out of this apartment june 12th, then i leave the 20th for puerto rico, then i come back the 26th of july, and only have until august 19th when i leave for australia. that's really not worth renting a place out. about 5 weeks. and it's not even put together. so yup..hopefully my friends will take me ^^;;
