a bat! in my house!
I don't know where it came from! But it flew around my living room and then luckily landed on the windowsill where the window doesn't quite meet the frame in places (I have such a crappy apartment) and crawled out!
Did I mention my mother is down to visit. I expected to be embarrassed by the enormous roach-like palmetto bugs, but a bat?! At 10:00 p.m., my mom is stuffing a towel into the hole and I'm out in the yard with a flashlight and a hammer, standing in the dark trying to pry the screen off so he could get out into the world. He wouldn't come out of the corner I got loose, but we're hoping he will tomorrow or else I'll have to yank the whole thing out and maybe face a scared flying bat.
Did I mention the subsequent trip we took on foot around the corner (flashlight still in hand) to my best friend's house to get duct tape? My best friend who wasn't there, but by phone gave me permission to rummage through her house. Upon our return, we stuffed plastic grocery bags in the hole and duct taped them down.
Still, we don't know if we can sleep tonight.
