Written while rewatching the pilot and thinking thinky thoughts.
Sawyer, Vincent
He felt guilty, which was a damned pointless thing to feel, but there it was, uncomfortably filling up his stomach like nausea. The feeling wasn't foreign, but the relief that pushed against it was warm and freeing. Watching as they stood in the stream talking, he tried to be thankful that the doc was a big of a martyr as always, his mind buzzing and too full to think of anything not randomly plucked out of nowhere. Like the way his fifth grade teacher Mrs. Ferrell used to sway as she erased the chalk board, or how his juvenile case worker had frowned when he'd told her he didn't have any friends, or hoping Vincent and Rose and Bernard were happy, wherever they were. He smiled to himself at the thought of that furry pup running through the jungle, as innocent as anything on the island had ever been. With the peaceful sound of the flowing water, he couldn't keep from making a joke, and when Hugo said he was glad it wasn't him standing with Jacob, he decided it would have been a little too sincere to say "me too."
