white stuff is falling from the sky...in Alabama

So, naturally, my university has shut down. No accumulation yet, it's not even freezing temperatures, and not more than 2-4 inches accumulation is expected -- yet, THE WORLD IS CANCELLED. Ahaha. I was so hoping to stay home in my pajamas and work today. Score ( Read more... )

BUT THERE'S SNOW LIFE IS CANCELLED IT MIGHT BE COLD.

Seriously, it was the same down in VA last time it snowed there (not this time--this time is an actual mess)--about 3 inches, tops, and the whole area just shut down. Everyone could NOT go to work and WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT TO DRIVE THE CAR IT'S SNOWING.

But enjoy the pajamas and working-from-home part, because that's pretty great :)

All this fuss and cancellation is especially absurd given how very mild this is compared to the kind of nonsense you all have had the past week or so. It's not sticking to the roads at all, especially because it's not even freezing outside, but, yes, IT MIGHT BE COLD LET'S GO GET ALL THE BREAD AND MILK FROM THE STORE OMG.

Yes, the working from home has been wonderful. :)

Isn't it crazy? Lol. Shut it all down, I say. Let's have a snow party!

My dad is working in T-town at the moment. He couldn't even get near you before his bosses freaked out and sent them home. Somehow I doubt it is that bad.

I'm really enjoying my snow day. :)

I was out driving it it earlier. It looks lovely coming down, but it is in no way, shape, or form sticking to the roads. I've driven on rainy days that were more dangerous, seriously.

My bro just came home with a giant bottle of Vodka [my valentine's]. I'm about to be enjoying mine.

The dangerous part of non-sticking snow is the idiots who drive like they want a wreck to happen. You have the ones speeding up running into the ones slowing down.

Luckily, everyone on the road when I was out earlier seemed well-behaved and not overly (or underly? lol) fearful. :)

I think I'll be partaking of some vodka later. Martinis, to be exact. Enjoy your afternoon!

Yeah, see, we have the opposite problem. There's big fat flakes falling from the sky so thick you can barely see through them, you can't even get out of your driveway without fishtailing into a ditch and people look at you like you're crazy when you suggest maybe cancelling school/work for the day. What? This is nothing! It's not even that cold!

No, really. People here freak out more about cold than blizzard conditions. They'll drive 80MPH on snow covered ice, but a perfectly clear, cold day makes them stay home. I don't get it.
