You win at life, obviously. Not only is this story entertainingly written like Pushing Daises episode narration (I heard Jim Dale in my head as I read), it speaks volumes about your character. You turned out good. Kate in panic mode is super fun to witness and I can only imagine how fun Batshit Crazy Lady on top of that was for you. Hee!

I'm so glad to know neither of the cats were harmed or got out or anything. How is Lucy doing? Nikita is being nice, yes?

It was less about being nice and more about beating her at her own game, but I'll take the compliment. ;)

Yeah, you can imagine exactly how I sounded on the phone, which I admit probably wasn't a nice thing for her to be faced with a 10 at night. But I absolutely just asked her if someone accidentally broke it and forgot to tell me. Which in her world apparently translates into an attack on her character and sends her into seek and destroy mode.

Lucy and Nikita have a decent truce going. Lucy amuses Nikita, but they're still not very good at speaking each other's language, and Nikita's pulling some power plays. But no bloodshed, so it's all good.

Beating her at her own game makes you smart. So that's not only a win but an ego boost. Score!

My landlady is super helpful but talks a blue streak at a mile a minute. She always WAY too enthusiastic and we happen to live near the office in the building so I see her every other day and have to endure a bombardment of questions about how I'm liking the apartment. Oh, and she's writing a book. Which I have yet to get up the courage to ask what the plot is. I'm so very scared.

And now I'm thinking of the crazy one you had in B.G.

WE DON'T FURNISH THE REFRIGERATOR.

Her number is still in my phone under "CRAZY." At least I learned a valuable life lesson: never underestimate the value of a good landlord/lady.
