So You Think You Can Dance, by way of American Idol analogy

Aug 05, 2009 23:06

I get it, America. Finally. I understand the pain and suffering of you rabid Adam Lambert fans.

I adore Adam, but I was pulling for Kris. Why? Because I wanted to hear his voice and his music more, because they appeal to me. Not because I believed he was more talented or more in control of his voice. That's crazy talk.

I was totally okay with this rationale for voting on AI, but I'm apparently harder on dancers, because this subjective nonsense just does not cut it for me right now.

AMERICA, IF THAT EVAN PERSON WINS 'SYTYCD,' I WILL GIVE UP ON YOU.

(This is not me hating on Evan. He's sweet. He's entertaining. He has something that captures people's attention/hearts/whathaveyou that's so strong it overcomes his technical deficiencies, and being a underdog!Kris fan, I don't want to sneeze at such a thing. But he is NOT A STRONG DANCER. He has improved, more than I thought he could, but he is not strong. Not.)

(Um, I'm not sure I'm really all that thrilled to be implying a comparison of Kris's level of talent re: music with Evan's re: dancing. Hope you understood that was just an analogy, probably a false one based on them both being unreasonably nice people.)

IN CONCLUSION: JEANINE AND BRANDON FTW.
