*Judge's Choice*

DANNY -- You know, when I can disassociate myself from the fact that I despise and loathe Danny, I can tell you two things: he has an awesome voice (although he depends too much on the natural timbre of it instead of actual inflection) and his lame dancing is OK since that's the way God made him, you know? Maybe it's charming, in a dorky way. But I'm not very good at pretending not to be bothered that this odious lounge singer is still here, so I choose not to notice these things and say only: competent, but a bit cheesy and, as one of the judges said, unmemorable.

KRIS -- I would buy an album of shit like that from him. I would. It entirely impedes me from making rational comments. (But I do agree that it's not stupid or unreasonable to expect him to take a song suited for his voice and do something new and interesting with it.)

ADAM -- I'm with Randy: I'm not sure I love the changes he made to the melody. Then again, I didn't love "Ring of Fire," either, and I still couldn't deny that he's awesome. Sure, he would've moved mountains singing it straight, but he chose the hard way, and I admire that. I also admire that I could literally feel every note he was singing. At the risk of sounding like Paula, it felt like he was singing it out of his soul. Sometimes, I feel like he's putting on a fucking fabulous show, but he's not connecting. Tonight, he was connecting, and I loved that.

*Contestant's Choice*

DANNY -- Smart choice on the song and arrangement (in actually bothering the change the arrangement). Great vocal. Still hate you.

KRIS -- OMG, my brave little toaster, ILU.

(I promised calm and rational for this post, didn't I? Fuck.)

*puts on calm and rational voice* I thought it was a ballsy choice to go out all alone with a guitar and sing a song with a little more growl and kick than his usual fare, but it sounded absolutely like him--like the Kris we knew he could be. One of his best performances.

But I fear it won't be enough to catapult him ahead of the Gokey fans, but I'm proud of him.

ADAM -- First off, he looked fucking smokin'. Jesus.

Second...Seriously, baby? Aerosmith? A song so tired that they once did an SNL skit about how much it and "Crazy" and "Amazing" sound like the same damn song? I can't say you didn't sing the hell out of it, but it was a little boring there in the first half. Even you couldn't rescue it. Why oh why did you choose that song?

I do love how Simon's terrified that people will take him for granted and not vote. I'm kind of terrified, too--except for how I'm not. That dude's going somewhere, whether he's the Idol or not.

I'm sad I didn't get to vote. I can only hope against hope that Kris and Adam don't split the sensible non-Gokey vote.
