Buffy question
For you handful of BtVS people:
When I watched the end of season 6, where Spike tries to rape Buffy, then he leaves town, this is what I assumed: Buffy having dumped his ass for good, Spike is digusted with himself for not being able to just fucking be a vampire anymore. He wants to get rid of these feelings and get back to the wanting-to-kill-Buffy mindset rather than wanting to fuck her or make her happy. So he goes to this demon to get rejuvenated, as it were--to get the chip out of his head, I think. What were the words? Something like, "Make me like I was before"? Then the season ends with him getting a shock as the demon tells him he's getting back his soul.
I was all annoyed that addle-brained season 7 Spike kept telling Buffy he'd gone in order to get a soul for her. I complained to my sister that he was either repainting the past or had forgotten. But she tells me I'm nuts: he always meant to get the soul. He roared away from Sunnydale because he's disgusted at what he did, and he needs to be a better man, i.e. one with a soul, to make her love him.
Am I nuts? Just tell me if I am.
