earworm, go away

(You know, I'd forgotten that term until I saw crowgirl13 use it recently.)

Anyway, "We Both Go Down Together," by The Decemberists, is an evil song. I've had a certain part of the song stuck in my head so long I am no longer impressed by his vast veranda, nor do I believe this Miranda could possibly be as virginal as he claims she is ( Read more... )

earworms, music

Hi! You have no idea who I am...lol, but I was clicking around during horrible bout of insomnia - doing that friend of a friend of a friend thing and came across your journal. I own the comm, henryian_daily where we post pics of Ian Cusick, um, daily, hence the name. ;) How are you not a member over there? There is much, much Desmond fangirling. Especially on Thursdays. Come have a look if so inclined!

Have a lovely day! Sorry for hijacking your journal. I've never randomly posted anywhere before but the Desmond!Love needs to be shared. ♥

I tend to be a bit of hermit. Which is silly, because you all are obviously fun people, right?

Actually, I've been in general sort of skirting Lost fandom in recent weeks, and I'm not sure why. But I keep telling myself I need to jump back in. Perhaps I should start by joining the squee over at henryian_daily. :)

Oh, and I don't at all mind people hijacking my LJ, especially for something as vital as spreading the Desmond love. :)

Ha! You have my complete sympathies. And yeah, 'We Both Go Down Together' has the earworm twist to it - I think it's fair to blame that vast veranda for its stick-in-your-ear initial hook.

My current haunt is Cobra Starship's 'Guilty Pleasure'. It so catchy, it might be challenging U2's 'Beautiful Day' for the title of King of the Earworms.

There's a MCR song - I can't remember which one - where I *swear* it sounds like Gerard Way is singing about SUVs. And of course there's U2's 'The Sweetest Thing' which Mr. Toast insists on singing as 'The Swedish Thing' [so that's what I hear, anymore].

"The Swedish Thing"? Ha. When I was quite young, I was convinced for a while that "With or Without You" was actually "Whistle Without You." I don't know HOW I came to that, but yet.

I've in general had lots of Decemberists in my head lately. Before "WBGDT," it was "Sons and Daughters." And "Sixteen Military Wives." Oh, well. I guess it could be much worse. At least these are good songs, no? :)

heee, once I have bad lyrics, I just cannot go back! =D

radio stations here sometimes fish out a song, can be anything, and then a part of it when you bend reality a bit and listen with disbelief seems to be saying something in French. it's really funny sometimes... "message in a bottle" can become "laisse le gin dans l'bateau" (leave the gin in the boat). worst thing is that it sticks ;)

Leave the gin in the boat. I like that, lol.

Oh, but now you've put "Message in a Bottle" in my head. :)
