I read it last night and it made me cry. I jus finished rereading it and it made me cry again.
I think this is the best installment of the series and it makes me sad to see it end. I wish things could be different for them, but sometimes having that one moment is more than enough. It sure beats the hell out of going through life without ever having experienced it, getting to know yourself and see yourself.
I know I've said this before, but there's so much going on here. The character development is fantastic. It's hard to believe that this all happens during a day and this one day is all they'll have, but it's all they needed to take that extra step into growing and adulthood. Neither Jack nor James and to be like their parents - and good reason -, but their rebellion was pointless unless they themselves changed and that's what they got here: a moment, a day that changed them for the best. Now, obviously, anything might happen to them in their future and there are no guarantees in that they won't make stupid mistakes they'll regret, but I think they've finally started to break free from their pasts.
It was fascinating, brainy, intense and yes, lovely ride. I'm sad to see them go.
Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. I love it.
