Don't you hate that when it happens, when somebody writes something and you can't figure out what to say. (Happens to me all the time.) So I'll take it as a compliment and say thank you so much for your feedback. Hell, thanks for even reading this angsty bit of slash. I'm glad you liked it. :D
I was the most worried about the spooning at the end, LOL, so that's good to hear.
Thanks for your feedback! I was really worried about this piece (you know, swimming around in Lee Adama's complicated brain), so it's nice to hear it worked. I'm glad you liked it. :)
well, let me make it three. I read this last night too and was pretty speechless. I wanted to leave a comment to say that I've wanted to read Lee/Sam done well and I don't know any Lee/Sam stories I'd dare read--unless it was yours. And I did. And I really really like this. I like that you hit the anticipated highlights of their connectedness, doubly appreciated a Lee impression as to what he was thinking while he was on Pegasus, and well... Sam is becoming Kara. Or trying to fill her void, not only by being a pilot, but by sleeping around, and with Lee? Quite an intriguing take.
It feels like the beginning of some really good character exploration. Not necessarily a sequel... just more BSG fics. :)
Thanks so much, especially for having faith enough to read this. I don't know why there isn't more Lee/Sam, especially from the last half of season. It just seemed like it needed to be written. But that doesn't mean I wasn't apprehensive as hell about writing it. So it's nice to hear this came out okay, that I'm on the right track in this new fandom. :)
No one knows now to respond to the awesomeness that is this great piece. I read it last night as well and couldn't come up with any damn thing to say.
I adore the first four paragraphs. So very much. Especially this: Not that he'd ever returned, really, from that moment when her viper became a sudden ball of fire-dark, violent. Final.
And I really liked the pieces-of-Kara-in-a-box metaphor. There are too many pieces of her, man. Everywhere I frakkin' look. Awwwww, damn Sam.
Drunk Sam is fun and heartbreaking. *hugs big, dumb Cylon Sam*
And I liked Lee's response to why he didn't go down with her.
And I really liked the pieces-of-Kara-in-a-box metaphor. That's fabulous, because I'm not sure I understand all of Sam's blathering, and I wrote it, LOL!
I'm taking it as a good sign that my angsty slash is making people clam up. I know that feeling. It's just odd to be on the receiving end of it, you know?
But you should've known this fic was coming, the stuff about why Lee didn't follow her down. That was my immediate question after Maelstrom. One of my Lost friends has this theory that fanfic always comes from trying to fix canon, even if it's just to fill in things you think should be there but aren't. Both of the BSG stories I've written so far have been conversations that I wanted to have happened that didn't.
Grr, now I'm just rambling. Anyway, thanks for reading this! If I can learn to ship your crazy K/L, maybe you will one day love poor drunk Cylon Sam as much as I'm starting to realize I do. :)

Suffice it to say that *incoherent glee* and omgyay kinda covered my reaction. Along with "yes! Exactly!"

He gave Lee a lazy grin that might've been seductive if the sorrow didn't take the shine out of it.
