PC-driven plot

Jul 12, 2005 15:21

It has come to my attention that a number of PCs playing in the NH-002-D Requiem game are lacking for things to do. As the player of the Prince in said Domain's Requiem Venue, I have some ability to potentially generate plot for you, if you are one of the aforementioned players. What I need from you, then, is as follows:

1). Your character's name. ( Read more... )

I will, schedule permitting, very likely be appearing live and in person at games within a single-digit number of weeks. With that in mind, I will need a reason to be in Portsmouth. Perhaps being the grandchilde of Marcus and brood-sibling of Seiko will suffice to a certain extent. Since my character is supposed to be groomed to be a rare diplomatic Dirae, and since there seem to be tensions between Portsmouth and Boston in which he has not been involved, no doubt something can be worked out. Perhaps I can also work to soothe tensions between Kaatje and other Dirae, if I even learn of them IC.

1) Name: Petrus Dirae
2) Skills : Diplomacy, although this has not been fully tested. Academics. High-Vigor spear-stabbing.
3) Plots (and interests in general): Soothing tensions. Preaching the Testament of Longinus in a relatively user-friendly manner. (Possibly trying to "save" Seiko.) Gathering family history.
4) All long-term, although the diplomacy might be more immediate.

If you're going to be a diplomatic Dirae, we'll likely have to work something out as well, since Evelyn's (now) the Seneschal and she's always been on good terms with the Dirae in general.

Hrm... And I'm not sure as to what Marcus would have told Petrus about Evelyn, so you may want to check with Chris R. to find out before we do any set-up.

Yeah, I have a bunch of stuff to work out. I should talk to Chris and Wendy to find out what Petrus actually knows about anything much at all.

I have some thoughts, but I need to know the answers to a few questions:

Has Petrus ever been to Portsmouth before? Is his impending return to America a well-known event? Does anyone outside of the Dirae know where he currently is?

Been to Portsmouth before: Probably. He "grew up" in the Boston court during the second half of the 20th century and formed a certain "co-student" bond with Luther Fried in the 70s, so may have been up to talk to him from time to time.

His current location is not a guarded secret or anything. I don't have many ties to people worked out yet, but if there are non-Dirae (especially LS and more especially LM) Petrus had dealings with, they would at least know that he'd gone off to Europe on some sort of Lancea business.

As for knowledge of the return, that's entirely negotiable.

Short but perhaps unhelpful version: None of the answers to your questions are really set in stone, so go nuts. Just give me an inkling and I'll adjust as needed. But I should also check with Chris and Wendy.

Finally, reguarding "of the blood": The default Latin word for blood, "sanguis," can have metaphorical connotations of strength or power or force. The "of..." form would be "sanguinis." But are you able to reveal a sample context?

If you're in the LM, there is one member in Portsmouth VSS proper - my Character, Pawel Stracony.

Currently listed as Magister.

If you're making arrangements to move back, you might want to buzz The Machine IC ("CODE:") before you go.

Then again, Marcus is LM, and knows the other LM in the area. He's Pawel's Cognatus, so everyone could get it trickle-down from him if you want to go that way.

buzz The Machine IC ("CODE:")

I have only just now figured out what this means (hadn't yet joined the yahoo group). Okay. Cool.

In any case, I suppose it will depend on Petrus' exact purpose (read: orders and / or advice from Marcus) how he goes about alerting other LM or Sanctified in general.

For the sake of convenience, why don't we just say that Petrus and Cynric have met. That gets us past the initial hurdle of figuring why he would even consider coming to Portsmouth in the first place.

I'm going to have to say that Cynric probably doesn't know exactly where Petrus went, unless Luther, Pawel or someone else made some offhand mention to that effect in his presence. (Any takers?) If Cynric knew where to send the letter, I'd be more than happy to have him extend Petrus a personal invitation to take up residence.

As to the "of the blood" thing, thank you. I was fishing for a name for the cumstom Discipline I'll eventually be applying for when I go for the St. George bloodline. Sadly, that also happens to be the name for the gross flesh monster Discipline of the old Blood Brothers.

Perhaps "of the Curse"?

On an unrelated note, do you happen to know offhand a good Latin word for "of the blood," with the specific connotation of blood as power?
