HIPS is hosting our annual after-halloween candy drive!
Contact HIPS to arrange delivery or pick up of candy! For offices located in Washington DC with more than six bags of candy, we'll be picking up on Monday, Nov. 11th.
Many of you know that HIPS brings small, bite sized pieces of candy with us out on outreach each evening. In fact, it’s one of the things we’re known for, and just part of our efforts to build good relationships on the streets. Offering a piece of candy is a great way to encourage people to come to the van for the first time. It serves as an ice-breaker. It can also serve as a pick me up for those who work the streets up to 10 hours a night without any food. It may seem a small thing, but by donating a couple of bags of Halloween candy, or other single serving packets bite-sized food you and others can help HIPS save thousands of dollars each year in outreach materials. It’s a fun easy way to spread the word about HIPS and our work, AND helps everyone get rid of that tempting Halloween candy!
