Well, last week my parents and I went on a mini-vacation up the northern Oregon coast. The weather was rainy and cool the first couple of days, then cleared up and got hot the latter half of the week.
The first day we drove to Lincoln City and stayed at a little bed & breakfast by the beach. The highlight of the evening was an incredible dinner at a place called
The Bay House. Superb food and service...on par with swanky places in San Francisco or Carmel. Loved it!
Tuesday we drove up the coast through Tillamook and stopped at the Tillamook Air Museum. They have a lot of cool planes, both modern and antique. Of course I had to take a pic of the Guppy that was donated to the museum by the founder of the company I work for - Erickson Air-Crane. We used to transport our helicopters in the Guppy, but it only held one aircrane, so now we use something bigger. This is still pretty big, though!
We ended the day in Astoria, staying at an old Victorian bed & breakfast. It was so cold and drizzly that we didn't do too much...just hung out and played Scrabble. *grin*
Wednesday we drove back south and stopped at Cannon Beach. It was still foggy and cold, dang it. Beach shots that I took were boring...this is the only pic I liked.
We had some time to kill before checking into our rooms in Nehalem, so we went back down to Tillamook and toured the huge cheese factory they have there. Kinda neat!
By the afternoon, the weather had taken a turn for the better, so we enjoyed a lovely evening on the Nehalem river.
Thursday we headed south again and stopped in Newport to see their awesome aquarium. We've been here before, but we always enjoy visiting.
We ended the day in Eugene at the Campbell House Inn, where we always stay. The garden looked lovely with so many flowers in bloom.
We got home Friday afternoon. It was a fun trip, but as always, I was glad to be home. :) Trips are pretty tiring, so I was glad to just relax this past weekend, although I did get my hair cut and colored (I'll post a pic soon!) and I saw "Prince Caspian". I'm only now just starting to catch up on internet stuff.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
