So the event organizers kept it classy and also poked fun at the technical mishap from the Opening Ceremony.
They paid tribute to Russian art, Russian ballet, Russian literature, and paid homage to their 1980 Moscow closing ceremony. Oh, and South Korea got their preview bit in there that actually felt like it blended in with all the Russian stuff.

Every time I see Evgeny Plushenko I 1) think of Alexei Yagudin, 2) remember Dima Bilan in Eurovision and 3) remember that other guy whose I never really liked and whose name I always forget and how much he bored me (Evan Lysacek).
Whenever I hear the Russian national anthem (or the Italian one, for that matter), I remember an Olympic Games computer game that we had for the Commodore 64. My sister and I would almost always choose to play as the Soviets or the Italians because we liked their national anthems.
When the Sochi organizers did their tribute to Russian literature, I was reminded that they gave us Ayn Rand and suddenly felt immense hatred for Russia.
Cris Collinsworth is an incredibly useless and somewhat embarrassing commentator and talks too damn much.
I miss my Misha bear (Mikhail Potapych Toptygin -- I Americanized him and called him "Tubby"; later on we pretended he was a Soviet spy). Back in the day, when we had a fire in our house, only Misha survived amongst the stuffed animals and thus maintained a special sentimental value amongst all the stuffed animals I ever had, despite being rather rigid for a stuffed animal. I believe I even took him to California both times I moved there. (He finally succumbed to "the attic" when I returned East eight years ago.)
So my favorite part was the giant animatronic puppet Misha bear (and the skiing hare and the rather peer pressuring leopard)...despite new Misha being rather fat. They were so expressive. At first I was scared that Misha was going to crash into one of the giant mirrors. Then, for a moment, it looked like Misha was checking out his bear self in a mirror. And then came the torch blowing bit, with the gust of bear breath and the tear bit and rather than tear up myself I just felt a little silly feeling concerned earlier that Misha might catch on fire.
And when they did the celebration for spring part, I thought it was amusing that they had all these kids in a field of gold all in front of these mascots. I wanted Misha to get his bear on, rampage through the wheat, and start mauling the children!
